Direct Marketing Production Manager

About the Role

The Lukens Company (TLC) is an award-winning full-service marketing agency that is seeking a Direct Marketing Production Manager to join our Production Department in our Arlington, VA office (permanent remote is also being considered). Staffed by awesome people looking to make a difference in the world, the Nonprofit Practice partners with a variety of museums, animal welfare organizations, social welfare organizations, aquariums, and zoos.

The Direct Marketing Production Manager will own the entire production process, strategizing with internal teams and implementing quality assurance measures to ensure operational success.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Managing assigned direct mail projects effectively from initial planning to completion

  • Interacting daily and communicating effectively with the account team, creative team, and management

  • Attending campaign kickoff meeting with the account and creative teams

  • Opening jobs in our production management system and maintaining their status

  • Reviewing and coordinating production schedules with Account Managers to meet deadlines

  • Bidding and negotiating direct mail projects with outside vendors to ensure projects are produced and completed within budget

  • Continually monitoring the status of all work in progress to ensure that deadlines are met

  • Overseeing and coordinating all work (data, artwork, copy, print proofs, postage, etc.) between outside vendors and internal teams

  • Reviewing and routing setups (laser signoffs) and print proofs for direct mail projects

  • Ensuring quality and accuracy of production signoffs through the TLC proofing system

  • Completing the billing process by facilitating and finalizing costs and invoices for each project

What We'd Like to See

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 3-5 years of experience in direct mail or working at an agency

  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to establish and maintain goodwill with clients

  • Effective communication skills, giving you the ability to present information, respond, and follow up on questions and inquiries from clients and managers with clarity

  • Excellent writing and editing skills

  • Self-starter with a demonstrated capability to manage multiple projects, prioritize a variety of tasks, and think on your feet to meet ever-changing needs and deadlines

  • Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with quick turnarounds

  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team

  • Adept at problem solving and resolving conflicts

  • Results-oriented and team-first attitude

  • Inclination to learn and grow professionally
